[build/height/weight] Rosie is mostly short and squat. She has lovely curves, but the older she gets, the less you can see them. She's about 5'4 and 140lbs.
[hair/eyes] Rosmerta's hair is bright red, almost orange, and has been getting grey streaks as she gets older. Her eyes are a bright blue.

[style] While she was in school, Rosie wore a lot of muggle styles. She liked the 70s styles, the bright colors, wild patterns, short skirts, etc etc. But right about the time that she hit her mid-twenties, Rosmerta realized that it really didn't flatter her figure, so she toned it down a bit. Not much, of course, because she still likes to stand out, but she doesn't look quite as trampy anymore.
[appearance] Rosmerta is nothing if not voluptuous. She developed at an early age and was instantly noticed for it. She's always been considered beautiful, and her new curves just added to that. She became one of those girls that all the blokes chased after. She was, to be slightly cliche, the girl all the bad boys wanted. And the wanking dreams of all the rest of them. Rosmerta's key feature, of course, was her cleavage. But she also knew how to accentuate the rest of her appearance. Rosmerta has a natural sense of style. Her mother was also pretty good at teaching her daughter how to wear clothes, make-up and hair styles. Rosie can toss her bright red hair up to frame her little round face. She knows what colors of shadow will make her bright blue eyes stand out the most and what application of blush will tone down her very prominent cheek bones. She has huge full lips that don't really need accentuated, but she usually wears a bright or dark rouge color anyway.

As she grows older, Rosmerta is filling out a little more. Her hips are wider, her breasts are larger, and she's starting to get a little pudgy. While she was in school, Rosie wore a lot of muggle styles. [personality] The word one most often hears when other people are talking about Rosie is "tramp". But that's not really a true statement. She's just very very friendly. Romilda will talk to anyone. She'll play nice with everyone. Her job is a good reason for her to be so nice to everyone because customers prefer a pub where the bar maid is pretty and friendly, but that isn't why she is. Rosie's been friendly since she was a child. She has the kind of personality where she can get along with anyone. And she's a great compromiser, so she's great at breaking up bar fights. She could make Voldemort and Potter themselves sit down and have a friendly dinner if given the chance. Rosie's friendly attitude lightens just about any mood. She's always been good at reading people and is thought of as a very understanding woman.

Of course, that isn't the main reason for the increase in patronage at the Three Broomsticks since Rosmerta started waitressing when she was fifteen. Rosie is a very flirty girl. Her reputation precedes her. And while most of the rumors about her promiscuity are untrue, that doesn't stop the blokes from pouring in. She has a habit of flaunting herself without realizing it. And when she actually puts effort into it, watch out. Women in droves have burst into the Three Broomsticks accusing Rosie of being a home-wrecker. And while she isn't really careful to be sure the men she dates are single, she would never intentionally break up a marriage. Although even if she did, unintentionally of course, she always manages to smooth the situation over. It's because she's such a diplomatic personality when she wants to be.

Besides all that, Rosie is a family person. She is extremely home oriented. No one is more important to her than her family. However, to Rosmerta, family has nothing to do with blood. She adores her blood relatives, of course. She was absolutely broken when her Mum died. She takes very attentive care of her aging father. But close friends are considered family to Rosmerta. She adores Molly, who she went to school with, and considers the Weasley boys the nephews she could never actually have. Also, most of the Order is family to Rosmerta, as well. And along that same vein, she isn't very tight with money. She knows how much of a tab to let certain people run up before demanding payment to keep the Three Broomsticks from going under. Despite not being a Ravenclaw, she's rather intelligent with business. She understands that you can't just give things away and keep a business afloat, but she's also kind and willing to spare some hot cider or soup for someone who needs it.

[history] Rosmerta was born to Nell Pinkerton and Cyrano Alderton on a bright sunshiny morning at the end of April. From birth she was a bouncing bubbly child. She was the kind of baby that was sociable and giggly. Everyone adored her. Which was great considering her mother and father worked full time keeping their family inn, The Three Broomsticks, running. Business was good, but it was still hard to make ends meet. Rosmerta was an only child, so she spent most of her time bugging the patrons of her parent's pub. No one seemed to mind the toddler running around. In fact, a few people were rather thrilled to see such a pretty young child brightening up the place with her crayon drawings and playful singing. They encouraged her. Some people brought her sweets. She was consistently told what a pretty little girl she was and that she'd grow up to be quite a looker. Especially if her Mama was any indication of what was in store for the little red-head.

The later years of Rosie's childhood were split between chores around the pub and school work. Nell and Cyrano hardly had any time to teach their daughter the basics, but they certainly couldn't send her to a muggle primary school since they were all out of town and no one could take her and pick her up every day. So Nell stretched herself to plan lessons for her daughter and make sure Rosie got them done. It wasn't an amazing education, but it was good enough. Rosmerta was intelligent and had a lot of common sense and Cyrano decided that was what was important. Besides, there were patrons who would come in now and again and help her with her lessons, as well as helping Nell and Cyrano by teaching Rosmerta things they hadn't bothered with. She was just as friendly and social as a child as she was when she'd been a toddler. Although her father started keeping a closer eye on his daughter now. She had common sense, but Cyrano still didn't trust her around some of his patrons... or rather, didn't trust them around his beautiful daughter.

No one at all had any idea what house Rosie was fit for. Some people said her common sense made her smart as a whip and she'd get stuck in Ravenclaw. Anyone who really knew her refuted that without question, Rosie herself included. Her determination made her perfect for Slytherin, but she was determined not to get put in that house because she didn't like anyone else who would be in that house. She was outgoing and daring enough for Gryffindor. But when it came down to Rosmerta's sorting, she ended up in Hufflepuff. Probably because of her cheerful attitude. It carried over to her school life and Rosie made friends with practically everyone. She was pureblooded enough for the Slytherins (most of them, anyway). She had enough common sense to get on well with Ravenclaws. And she had quite the reputation with the Gryffindor blokes. The predictions that she would be a heart-breaker were not wrong. She began developing before the other girls her age, and by the time she was twelve she had begun her rounds. Rosmerta made it through most of the Gryffindor blokes within two years of her age in either direction. She dated a few Ravenclaws, a good amount of Hufflepuffs, and even a Slytherin or two. Not to mention, quite against her parents' wishes, by the time she was fifteen she'd started catching the eyes of her parents' patrons. And she started making eyes in return. Rosie wasn't promiscuous, but that didn't stop the rumors from flying... most of them very openly calling her a tramp, sometimes to her face.

No one expected Rosmerta to get Os on her OWLs or NEWTs. She surprised them all by getting two Os on her NEWTs and the rest being split pretty evenly between Es and As. Not that it really mattered. Rosie knew what she was going to do after graduation. For a half a dozen generations or more her family had owned The Three Broomsticks. And considering she was the only daughter, the pub was going to pass to her when her parents were gone. So she had no problem working as a bar maid, a kitchen wench, a waitress, or whatever else her parents decided she needed to do to prepare to take over the family business. Besides, working at the Broomsticks was what she was cut out for. She was cheerful and friendly and Rosie was a whiz in the kitchen. She never really bothered to set her dreams much higher than that. It wasn't that she had low standards, it was just that Rosie is a simple girl and planned for a simple life.

The war, of course, put a bit of a wrench in her cogs, but not much. She was approached early on by Headmaster Dumbledore and asked to join the Order. She was also asked to keep her association with them a bit secret and to keep her eyes and ears open for anything that might benefit their side of the war. Rosmerta did just that. In 1975, Nell died of a heart attack. Cyrano decided then that Rosmerta could take things over herself. So her father remained in the little residence around the back of the Three Broomsticks' kitchen where Rosie had grown up, and Rosie herself took over all the running of the pub. She allowed both Order members, Ministry workers, as well as known pure-blood elitists (who were very likely Death Eaters) use the meeting rooms of the inn. And with the help of some other Order members, she was able to set up very discreet monitoring spells. But no one seemed to notice and Rosie remains the most popular bar-matron that the Three Broomsticks has ever had.
