Harry Potter; Post-DH

[name/nicknames] Hermione Jean Granger. Hermy (only Viktor is allowed to call her this), Mione (only if she's in a really good mood, otherwise risk getting glared at or lectured).
[birthday] 19 Sept 1979
[bloodline] Muggle-born
[allegiance] OoTP. Definitely good. She was raised in a very moral house-hold and is severely offended by prejudice of any kind, even if it isn't against her. Add that to the fact that her best friend is the poster-boy for the Order and it's rather obvious why Hermione chose the side she did.
[occupation] Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Training for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
[school/house/years] Hogwarts, Gryffindor, 1991-1998. She finished year 7 by correspondence after the war.
[owl/newt scores] Ancient Runes O/O. Arithmancy O/O. Astronomy O/O. Charms O/O. DADA O/O. Herbology O/O. HoM O/O. Muggle Studies O/O. Potions O/O. Transfiguration O/O.

[wand] Ten inches, vine wood with a dragon heartstring core.
[boggart] Before: McGongall telling her she'd failed. Now: same as Molly's, Ron dead. Although if you catch her on a hormonal day, it's a dead baby. (She's afraid of miscarrying.)
[patronus] An otter. Homage to the love of her life who lived in Ottery St. Catchpole his whole life.
[in mirror of erised] Herself in a business suit looking lovely and intelligent standing in front of a beautiful house with a white picket fence.
[special abilities] Book-learning and logic. Sometimes she's thought of as rather a killjoy and a party-pooper because she has to find the logic in everything and is bound by her inner morality to do what is right in a situation. (That doesn't always mean following the rules, of course, but that's besides the point.) Her extreme logic makes her especially good at Arithmancy. Her love of organization makes her good at Astronomy (the stars always follow the same pattern each year). She's also great at History of Magic (which is probably only because she reads so much and was the only one to ever pay attention in class).

[build/height/weight] Her build is moderate. She's 160 cm (5'4"), not tall or short. And weighs 66 kg (145 lbs), not fat or thin. She's slightly toned, but not enough to be noticed normally.
[hair/eyes] Her hair is light brown and bushy, as always. And her eyes are a deep chocolate brown.
[identifying marks] She has a few tiny scars here and there, but nothing noticeable (especially compared to her hair).
[style] She wears mostly jeans and a t-shirt under her robes in casual situations, or dress pants and a nice blouse while at work or training. Every now and again she dresses up, but that is very rare.
[appearance] Hermione's never really been beautiful. She was born a plain, pale faced baby with curly brown locks and chocolate brown eyes. And she grew up to be a plain, pale faced girl with curly brown locks and chocolate brown eyes. And to this day, she remains a plain, pale faced woman with curly brown locks and chocolate brown eyes. A more appropriate description of Hermione, on her best days at least, would be stunning. When she walked into the ball on the arm of Viktor Krum looking very well put-together, the crowd was stunned. When Ron first noticed she was a girl, he was stunned. When her Poppa, just before he died, took a final look at her and said she was a lovely young woman, he was stunned at the sudden appearance of his grandbaby as a woman. Hermione started out as a mediocre baby and remains as such. She has a well-shaped body, fit from all the running around the trio does (even now, you wouldn't believe the publicity), although you'd never know it with the way she wears gigantic baggy robes. She doesn't know how to wear them to accentuate her figure. Hermione has no real sense of style. Mostly she wears blacks and whites and greys (with the occasional red and gold thrown in for house-spirit) because they're easy to match. Although she does have a bit of color in her wardrobe. Mostly she just wears color with jeans, though. It's easier that way. Fleur and Ginny keep trying to help her with her style and appearance, but Hermione will have none of that frivolity.

[quirks] Ron has said (often with a rather sarcastic tone, sometimes playful, sometimes seriously) that Hermione is perfect. And perhaps on the outside she appears that way. However, she is anything but. Her self-esteem is a huge problem. Hermione's desire to be loved and seen as beautiful often clouds her judgment. She pretends not to care, of course. And to some extent she really doesn't care. She doesn't change her appearance or attitude. But the fact of the matter is that she is run by her emotions very frequently. Usually, despite the logic behind her choices, it is her emotions that make her decisions. And while that might be considered a strength by some, for someone as logical as Hermione, it is most certainly a flaw. Another flaw she has is second guessing herself and hesitating. She's getting better at this, but for the most part she still doesn't trust her instincts enough to act on them initially and immediately. When particularly agitated or angsty she licks her lips and sucks in her breath a lot. She has terrible eating habits due to over-working herself and forgetting. She shuts everyone and everything out when she's lost in a book or studying. And she refuses to floo (it messes with her sinuses) or fly (the heights thing).
[hobbies] Hermione's only real hobby has always been reading. She will read anything she can get her hands on. She collects knowledge like the Grand Canyon collects water. She can never seem to get enough to fill the great gaping hole inside of her that just thirsts for knowledge. And, for the most part, on top of her endless work and training schedule, this has caused her to become extremely anti-social. Her brief fight for SPEW has died down, but is not dead, especially after the final battle at Hogwarts where they fought so bravely. She still holds a slim thread of hope that one day she will make waves in the Ministry for half-breeds and creatures of lower status than Wizards and Witches that clearly have intelligence and emotions that should be noticed and respected. For instance, Teddy. She's determined that he won't suffer like his father did at the hands of social injustice. But other than that she pretty much does what she's always done, what she's pretty sure she was made for, research and studying.
[pet peeves] arrogance. pen-clicking, and people drumming their fingers. being interrupted when she's reading or studying. being ignored or underestimated.
[first impression] People usually take Hermione's quiet demeanor as arrogance because the first thing out of her mouth is usually her correcting someone or spouting off some completely obscure fact and making her intelligence known. But really she's usually just quiet because she likes to feel people out first.
[likes/dislikes] Hermione likes, as always, books. Books books and more books. She loves to read and she loves to learn. Sometimes she uses it as a defense mechanism (hiding behind her intelligence), but usually it's just because she genuinely enjoys it. She also enjoys Quidditch. Despite beliefs to the contrary, she gets rather into it, and not just because a good deal of the people she loves play. Of course she pretends to be slightly aloof about it, but the truth is, she's as rabid a quidditch fan as the boys. That doesn't mean she understands it, or that she won't make fun of them for it, but that's completely besides the point. She likes order, organization, and responsibility. And anything other than that is more irritating than anything to her. She hates, not just dislikes or loathes entirely, she hates being underestimated. She hates being looked down on because her parents are muggles. She also rather dislikes mince pie. Random, perhaps, but very true. And she's afraid of ovens. (She has a bit of scar from where the oven door fell on her head when she was little, though it's entirely hidden by her mess of curls.)
[personality] She began Hogwarts as brainy, insufferable, know-it-all. But by what should have been her last year at Hogwarts, she remained all of those things except insufferable. She might not be the most agreeable person, but she's certainly a lot easier to get along with now than she was originally. Partially she has toned herself down in an attempt to calm the ridicule and indignant looks she still gets just for being who she is. But a lot of her calmer and less forward attitude has come with age, she has matured greatly. That, of course, doesn't stop her from learning all she can about everything she can. After all, someone's got to be brains behind the operation. Harry's the name and the power, Ron's the courage and the loyalty, but those two could only get so far without her. Although most times Hermione only claims to be cleaning up the messes that Ron and Harry make, which is only partially true. After all, she does her fair share of getting them into trouble where trouble is not needed. Hermione has a habit of reciting the rules under the guise of scolding the two of them, when really she's only reciting the rules in order to find a loophole and a way around them. And while she has calmed down quite a bit, she still manages to sound like a know-it-all when she runs off on a tangent about something she has a passion for. Even some of her co-workers and peers get irritated when Hermione starts up about the unjust treatment of certain creatures. Or how shallow the media is. Or any number of other things that happen to catch and hold her attention until she wears it out and makes everyone around her absolutely sick to death of hearing about it.

And while Hermione has spent many years as a go-between for the testosterone of the trio, she's been trying to get a hold of her own emotions more and more lately. At one time, Hermione had a habit of jumping blindly into things. SPEW, for example. Things that should have been thought out beforehand. But now nothing is a blind leap for Hermione. She's become so meticulous about things that she has OCD tendencies and is considered very anal by anyone who knows her. She does things like alphabatizing her personal library, and color coding the clothes in her closet. Everything in her flat has a place and everything is in order. The only thing that even appears out of order with Hermione is her hair (despite her desperate attempts, it is entirely possibly to not have a hair out of place when out of place is all that her hair will ever be).

Her habit of showing off her rather vast intelligence has subsided. Some say into something that can only be described as embarrassment. Although really it's only Hermione's attempt at modesty. She's sick of being known as insufferable. It's been years since she's dated and she has herself convinced that the saying about successful women (that they're doomed to fail in relationships) must be true. After so many years of emotional repression, Hermione has been working on not standing out so much. Although with a stubborn personality like she has, that's looking less and less plausible. And, of course, that hasn't really stopped her from butting heads with the one person she actually has feelings for. Despite the fact that Hermione does her best to remain at least a little less offensive and forward around most people, Ron has a way of just working up her nerves. It's very hard for her to hold her temper around him. Because of her deep emotional attachment to Ron, she's severely sensitive to the things he says. Ron could say something completely meaningless that Hermione would write off and ignore from anyone else, but with Ron it could spiral into a three week argument. This, as well as her complete immersion into her work, is just another way that Hermione deals (or rather, refuses to deal) with her emotions and believes that she's protecting herself from getting her heart broken yet again.

[family/pets] Franklin and Charlotte Granger. Both muggle dentists. The rest of her family is completely muggle. And while she loves them and sees them on holidays, Hermione isn't particularly close to any of them. Not since her Poppa (Hugo Granger) died anyway (her fifth year). Although more recently her family has started the argument about what's to be done with her Poppa's country house and she's debating spending her University Fund (since she won't be attending University and won't need it) to buy the house. Crookshanks, half-kneazle, half ginger-cat.
As of recent years, Ron Weasley has become more than her friend, they've gotten married. And they had a daughter in 2006 named Rose Weasley. Barely two years later, early 2008, Hugo Weasley followed his elder sister into the world.
[childhood/current residence] She grew up at Long Park Lane, Winchester, Hampshire; right between Crawley & Littleton. Her primary school was Twyford School. Currently she lives at Lancaster Gate, London. W2 in St. James's, just a few blocks from the London Library which is the foundation for the three stories of the European Wizarding Library. It's a modest house, but large enough that Ron feels comfortable and not poor.
[finances] From her conception, Hermione's parents put a little bit of money out of every one of their paychecks into a savings account for her college fund. Considering she's not entering a university, that money is stored up in the Bank of London right now. However, Hermione is above all else a clear thinker, so she's saving that money and leaving it safely in the Bank of London unless she desperately needs it. With her Ministry salary and Ron's income from the WWW, she figures they're pretty well off and can afford to save a little for their children's futures.
[friends/enemies] Without thought Hermione will say that Harry Potter and Ron Weasley are her best friends. However, there's a lot that she doesn't tell them. Some of it is girly stuff, things that she'll tell Ginny in a heartbeat. So really, Ginny is probably one of her best friends, as well. And she would trust her life in the hands of Neville. The Weasleys are her Wizarding family. McGonagall is her mentor. But the truth is that Hermione hides a lot of her fears and insecurities deep inside herself and puts on a smiling, well-studied grin for everyone. The only enemy that comes to mind immediately is Draco Malfoy. And that's only because he's taken such an immediate and immense dislike to her and is horrible. But for the most part Hermione finds it illogical to waste her time and energy hating anyone or having enemies.
[sexuality/exes] Heterosexual. Or really, if you want to get technical, she's probably Ron-sexual. She hasn't had a true interest in anyone else her whole life. There has been the casual bat of her eye this way or that way (Oliver Wood, for one, caught her attention her first year. Viktor was also a momentary fling.), but her heart has always been Ron's.
[turn ons/offs] She's always been attracted to a good heart, loyalty, bravery, and someone who wants to take care of her. (She'll tell you intelligence and stability, but we all know that's a lie and a ruse to get people off her case since her real wants are Ron to a T.) And she just cannot tolerate ignorance, arrogance, short blokes, and rudeness.

[history] Franklin Michael Granger and Charlotte Suzanne Youngs-Granger were blessed early in the morning on September 19th of 1979 by a bundle of joy with curly brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Franklin and Charlotte, clearly the most intellectual people they knew, decided on the most cultural name they could think of, a tribute to Shakespeare. She was given the middle name of her maternal grandmother (who died before she was born). And so Hermione Jean Granger came into the life, practically reading from birth. Her mother had read every book on pregnancy and infants. So while in the womb Hermione was bombarded by every classical novel and every classical artist her mother could procure. Her little body was nurtured by the healthiest foods her mother could ingest and the best exercise her mother could find. Hermione was on her way to ultimate intelligence before she had even entered the world yet.

The world was a maze of mysteries for Hermione as a child. She entered eagerly into school, ready to learn more than what the books at their house could teach her. For the first year or so Hermione was bright eyed and bushy tailed. She was a cheerful child and very social. She had lots of friends and spent almost as much time being social as she did learning. But that changed rather quickly. Hermione learned within a few short years that smart kids were often picked on by the bullies. And she wasn't accustomed to just letting things like that go. She hated being picked on or seeing other people picked on. So she fought back, for a little while. Until the strange things started happening. When she would get angry or too depressed or otherwise emotional, her magic started exploding out. She didn't know then that it was magic, of course. But when the electrical things around her started to malfunction in response to her emotions, Hermione started to retreat into herself. She started thinking something must be wrong with her.

That's why Hermione was so thrilled to receive her Hogwarts letter. She thought that finally she had found a place where she would fit in. The things she was made fun of for in the Muggle World were pretty much normal in the Wizarding World, or so it seemed. She was so excited and her excitement didn't die down until the first few weeks of school were over. It was then that she finally realized that things here were just the same as things elsewhere. She was made fun of here for being Muggle-born the same way she was made fun of in the Muggle World for being a witch (even if they didn't know that's what they were making fun of). And just like everywhere else, the intelligent were looked down upon. It might have been easier if she'd been sorted into Ravenclaw, but then her life would have taken a whole different turn. Perhaps a more boring turn. And truly, Hermione probably wouldn't have ever found where she really belonged if she would have been sorted into Ravenclaw.

First year began and ended in a flurry, like all the years following. She was thrown into a million different situations that brought her closer and closer to Harry and Ron. Despite their obvious differences, the trio were like three peas in a pod. Inseparable. And unbelievably loyal toward each other. Harry was the name and the power. Ron was the loyalty and the strategy. And Hermione has always been the logical and the intelligence. She's the one who recites all the rules under the guise of scolding the other two. The truth, though, is that she is only trying to find a way around the rules. So they fought trolls and Death Eaters and any number of other evils. They all came face to face with Voldemort at one time or another in one form or another. But they managed to pull through, together.

Of course, sometimes the togetherness was as much a problem as a solution for Hermione. The closer the trio got, the harder it was for Hermione to hide her feelings for Ron. But she was pretty set in holding her feelings inside. What good would they do while the trio was running around trying to save the world? They would only get in the way. Hermione tried her best to suppress them, of course. But sometimes they slipped through. Often, in fact, in the form of arguments. Sometimes in the form of jealousy (the Lavender thing) or spite (the Cormac thing). But she kept herself from actually admitting to him how she felt, and that was important to Hermione, for a time. As important as school, really. Or nearly as important. Education was something she enjoyed, but also something she hid behind.

Although as the years wore on, education was becoming less and less of a shelter from the real world. The real world, and the war, it seemed, were coming right into Hogwarts. Everything kept coming closer and closer. And soon, in fact, Hermione decided to leave school behind to fight for something bigger. Hermione found something more important to her than marks or NEWTs. And that decision, more than anything, was the first real proof that Hermione had matured much more than anyone had expected. And much quicker as well. How else could she have actually dealt with all the pain and loss that was to follow during the last few months of that terrible war? But coming out of the other side of the horrible war, Hermione found a way to appear stronger and more directed... at the very least more dedicated.

Directly after the war and the initial clean-up process, Hermione set about finding a way to finish school. She headed off to Australia to gather her family back up. She restored their memory and moved back in with them for the rest of the summer and until the following Christmas. It was during those months that she spent tireless hours studying and finished all her classes with top marks on all of her NEWTs. And from there, well, the world just seems like one big mess. She got hired into the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures immediately after NEWTS. And during that time she went looking, tirelessly, for an apartment close to the Ministry. After a few months of searching and finding nothing to her liking (after-all, the whole Wizarding World was in the process of rebuilding) and in her budget, something new came up. That is, Ron asked her to move in with him. Careful consideration proved that it was the most logical thing to do. And within months of that move, Ron proposed. Hermione, of course, couldn't help but say yes.

However, Hermione shot down Ron's desire for a complete family rather quickly. She kept on her birth control until they were both settled, had a home, and their jobs and income were steady. It was half a dozen years before Ron finally convinced Hermione to get off the birth control. And it was barely a month or two before Hermione was pregnant with their daughter. And while Hermione figured it was logical to have one child to put all their efforts and love into, and Ron didn't want their daughter to go through what he did and agreed with having a single child, fate seemed to have other ideas. Before Hermione could get back on birth control, they had to give her another pregnancy test, just to be safe. She was barely over her first experience giving birth when the announcement came that there would be a little boy to follow Rose into the world. Obviously Hermione's third attempt at birth control was much quicker, much better planned, and successful. As is she, in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, as well as motherhood, and her wifely duties. It seems that her experience with the timeturner years ago helped her organize herself a bit better.
