Harry Potter; Post-DH

[name/nicknames] Megan Renee Jones. Meg. Megs. Meggy.
[birthday] 25 December 1979.
[bloodline] Half-Blood
[allegiance] OotP
[occupation] Librarian
[school/house/years] Hogwarts. Hufflepuff. 1991-1998
[owl/newt scores] Arithmancy A/A. Astronomy E/E. Charms E/E. DADA E/A. Herbology O/O. HoM O/drop. Muggle Studies O/O. Potions A/A. Transfiguration E/A.

[wand] 11.5". Cherry wood. Unicorn tail hair.
[boggart] Herself naked in front of an audience.
[patronus] A hummingbird.
[in mirror of erised] Just herself. She doesn't really want anything out of life. She's pretty happy.
[special abilities] None, to be honest. Perhaps her fierce loyalty. Or maybe her ability to reason. She's a great compromiser, able to see both sides of any situation. Though her heart is pure and she is always fighting for good.

[build/height/weight] Mediocre build. Mediocre height (5'5). Mediocre weight (140lbs).
[hair/eyes] Long dark hair, usually left down. Grey-blue eyes.
[identifying marks] A small birthmark on her right hip, but nothing more than that. She always wanted to say it looked like some shape, but it never really has. It's just a dark blob on her side.
[style] Comfortable. Although her clothes usually accentuate her form on sheer coincidence.
[appearance] Megan is pretty much the spitting image of her sister. They have the same dark hair, which Megan tends to leave down as well. Although it's a good deal longer than Hestia's and when she's writing or playing an instrument she tends to prefer it pulled at least half-way up. They have the same build, smallish with some curves, but not many. Megan knows how to dress to make herself look more full-figured or less, but she usually doesn't bother. Their facial structure is also very similar, a little bit round with high cheek bones that seem to be the main focus of the face. She even has the same smile as Hestia. She blushes the same way her sister does, even though it's rather less frequently than Hestia. She doesn't often get teased or complimented, and even less than that does she get embarrassed. It's actually rather hard to tell their baby pictures apart. The only difference is that Hestia was far more pink as a baby than Megan was. She's very pretty in that natural sort of way. Not a stunning beauty or anything. Just the kind of girl that makes you go "aww, how cute is she!".

As far as style, Megan doesn't have it. Not on purpose, anyway. She dresses for comfort. It just happens that her comfort is the kind of clothing that suits her body-shape. She wears a lot of low square neck tops because she doesn't like things tight around her neck. She doesn't wear any jewelry, at all. Mostly because she doesn't like things around her neck. She wears a lot of skirts, usually knee length ones. And she doesn't mind dressing up when the occasion calls for it. But she isn't a girly-girl. She wears a bit of make-up, but not every single day. Usually it's just eye-liner and blue-grey eyeshadow to compliment the color of her eyes. She does, however, wear pink tinted chap stick everyday (because she always feels like her lips are chapped). She has a habit of sucking on her lips or biting them when she's lost in thought. During school she dressed in the dress-code, of course, but the moment she steped out of class she loosened her tie and undid the first few buttons of her shirt.

[quirks] Sucks and chews her lips when she's thinking. Hums to herself when she thinks no one is around.
[hobbies] Anything musical.
[pet peeves] When people make snap judgments about other people.
[first impression] Most people forget the first time they meet Megan. She's quiet and unalarming and unless you spend a lot of time with her, you'll only vaguely recognize her as that one quiet girl.
[likes/dislikes] She loves music and anything to do with it. Although she has a bit of stage-fright. She was in the Hogwarts chorus, and she even played the strings a bit to compliment the sound of the chorale, but nothing more than that. She likes to read, but nothing too heavy. Dickens (Emily and Charles) confused her endlessly. She likes simple books. Things she can finish in one or two settings. And really, the only thing she dislikes is unfairness.
[personality] Megan is extremely shy. She's quiet. She's introverted. And she gets really really nervous around big groups of people, as well as people she doesn't know. Even Megs' voice is soft and unalarming. For the most part she slips into the background. Often she feels insignificant and over-looked. For instance, her birthday is on Christmas. Most people forget that in all the busy shopping and things like that. But she doesn't mind. She isn't angsty or emo about it at all. In fact, she pretty much prefers being ignored. No one makes fun of her. No one tries to drag her out into the middle of all the action. And she doesn't get called on in class. Even though she really is rather brilliant.

Growing up the way she did, with her Mum homeschooling her and always watching Hestia closely, Megan is very intelligent. She's especially good at languages and numbers. She can sign fluently, speak almost perfect French, and speaks pretty decent Latin. She's excellent at music because of her skill with math. She also has a gorgeous voice but the only people who've ever heard it are Hestia and and very close friends (not on purpose, though, only because they've caught her singing randomly). And also, her parents have heard her singing. Her Mum used to encourage it and tried to get Megan to take lessons, but she has severe stage fright. She also got Megan into piano and violin lessons that lasted until she entered Hogwarts. She still plays a bit, and mostly she teaches herself. She's very musically talented.

Megan's cousin on her father's side is Gwenog Jones (who, yes, happens to be black) so her family is pretty inter-racial. Her best friend is part of an adopted family that is widely inter-racial and varied. She was also taught sign-language from a young age. Megan is a very tolerant person. She's definitely way too sweet. And if you can get passed her shell, she's very friendly. She doesn't discriminate anyone at all. And, in fact, she teaches herself to adapt to different situations when she becomes friends with people. For instance, she learned French because she has a pen-pal whose original language is French. Amelie speaks fluent English, but Megan learned French because she thought it would be the polite thing to do. Now they chat in both languages. She does that sort of thing a lot. When she found out a close friend was gay, she actually started reading a bit about the homosexual culture in their area. Of course, she wouldn't ever admit it, but she knew he was gay before anyone ever said anything about it. She's very perceptive because she's so quiet and is rarely noticed so she has lots of time to observe people and their behaviors. But she isn't at all judgmental, just observant and perceptive.

[family/pets] Lynette Collins, an English muggle teacher. Devon Jones, a Welsh pureblood business man. Hestia Jones is her big sister, whom she adores and thinks is absolutely wonderful, but doesn't try to be like. Her cousin, on her father's side, is Gwenog Jones.
[childhood/current residence] She grew up in a mediocre-sized house in Little Whiting with her sister and parents. And then, once she had graduated and had a regular income, Megan moved to a small apartment just outside of Diagon Ally, close to both worlds to keep in contact with all her friends.
[finances] Megan lives from paycheck to paycheck, like most people. Some months she's stretching, some months she has excess. She doesn't really save too much, so it's rare for her to have extra money in the bank. And sometimes she has to visit her parents for money or food. But she lives pretty comfortably and doesn't complain.
[friends/enemies] Her best friend in the universe is a boy quite her opposite (they're like yin and yang). Otherwise she's pretty shy. She tries to avoid social situations, but Wayne drags her into them frequently.
[sexuality/exes] Hetero. But VERY frightened at the idea of relationships.
[turn ons/offs] Cheerful. Playful. Not pushy, but someone who will gently draw her out of her shell. She's turned off by people who are judgmental, discriminatory, and just plain mean.

[history] Megan was born very quietly on Christmas night. She wasn't a screaming baby, and even when her wind pipes were cleared and they made her cry to be sure she was healthy, she went quiet very soon after. Her parents, Lynette Collins and Devon Jones weren't at all surprised, considering their eldest daughter was pretty quiet as well. And that was pretty much how she spent her childhood. Her Mum always said she was a well-mannered child. She found ways to amuse herself and rarely cried for anything, even food. After reading an article on it, Lynette had started sign language with Megan when she was first born and before she could talk, Megan learned to sign what she wanted. Her Mum was all about making the children as smart as they potentially could be. She sang and read to Megan from the womb. And by the time Megan was three she was already reading small words and adding things on her fingers.

She was an apt student, often sitting with Hestia while her sister read. But for the most part, until she was about five or six, Hestia was the only person Megan would openly talk to. She only spoke to her parents when needed. But if Hestia was in the mood to sit and listen, Megan would babble and babble to her big sister. Her lack of social interaction worried their Mum, though. Right around the time that most kids begin their first year at primary school, Lynette started setting up play-dates for Megan. She sent the girl both to Muggle and Wizarding friends of the family. And she really didn't play with any of the other kids, she preferred to read. Until she went to visit a Wizarding family with multiple adopted children. She hid, for the most part, because there were entirely too many kids there. But for whatever reason (probably because he tried to keep his siblings from picking on her) she latched onto their son, who was her age. And considering he was the only person she ever really played with (besides Hestia) Megan's parents sent her there to play frequently, as well as inviting the boy over to play.

Growing up the way she did, Megan has a very strong sense of equality among all people. She was placed in Hufflepuff because of this. And also because her closest friend had already been sorted and she practically cried when the Sorting Hat was placed on her head because she was afraid of being separated from him. Hestia had gone to school and been sorted into Ravenclaw already, so Megan was already accustomed to the separation from her sister. It had been hard, but she'd taken it like she took everything else, quietly. And considering Hestia was graduated soon after, Megan knew she'd be better off in the same house as her best friend. Safer. Because she had no doubt people would pick on her in school the way his siblings picked on her. She was, however, wrong. Most people just plain overlooked her.

During the war, people pretty much ignored Megan. She kept her eyes open, though, because she was half-blooded and afraid of being picked on for it. And because of this, Megan began to be more and more involved in the things going on at Hogwarts. She became known as the great compromiser. Megan had a way of stopping arguments and fights. It was uncanny to most people how she managed to do so with only her words. But Megan seemed to have a way of seeing both sides and reaching both parties. Agreements were made, tempers were calmed, and life went on. Megan didn't draw too much attention to herself other than that.

Megan was pulled from Hogwarts when Snape was appointed Headmaster. Her mother was against it, but her father and Hestia knew what was going on. Her father had lived through the first war and Hestia had seen a lot being part of the OotP, so they knew to get Megan as far out of the line of fire as possible. So Megan finished her last year through homeschooling. And when the war finally died down, an appointment was set up for her to take her NEWTs through the Ministry. She got a single O and the rest were As. She was a good student and her grades reflected so.

After the war, Megan took a job at the Wizarding World Library in London. She settled close to Diagon Alley, so she could be a part of both worlds without much trouble. And as far as friendships, well, Megan does all she can to keep in touch with them. She throws small dinner parties, inviting a handful of friends for dinner and conversation. Sometimes she even gets dragged out to karaoke. But for the most part, Megan has a pretty normal existence.
